Community Action

The Health Continuum works closely with academic institutions such as the Delhi School of Social Work, University of Delhi, and the Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University to bridge academic learning with real-world community action.

Students and researchers regularly engage with our programs, where they are mentored by our team to design and implement meaningful, impact-oriented community initiatives. These projects focus on addressing locally identified needs while strengthening students’ capacities in community engagement, participatory research, and evidence-based program design.

Such collaborations help nurture the next generation of public health and development professionals while contributing to locally grounded, scalable solutions for community wellbeing.

Community Action: Listening to the Voices of Older Adults in Kusumpur Pahadi

With India witnessing a rapid demographic transition, building scalable and replicable community-led models for elder care will be critical in transforming the country’s growing elderly population into a sustainable silver dividend

At THC, we believe that community voices must be at the center of designing effective health and social care solutions. We recently conducted focused group discussions with elderly residents of Kusumpur Pahadi for older adults to share their lived experiences, health concerns, and everyday challenges related to ageing in an urban low-income settlement.

 Insights from these discussions will help inform the development of evidence-based, locally grounded elder care models that respond to the real needs of ageing populations.
